History
No, I didn’t start this movement, but I have decided to take it and run with it.
Many years ago, maybe as many as 30, my wife and I were in attendance at a church in Texas with my sister in law and her husband. It was Easter, and the minister passed out nails, similar to those pictured above. He asked the men to place that nail in their pocket and to carry it every day. When we felt alone, misunderstood, mistreated, unloved, or unworthy, we were instructed to reach in our pocket, feel the nail, and remember that there was a man who was also God, who was willing to be nailed to a cross and left to die so that we might have the opportunity to enjoy eternal life with him.
And so, after all these years, still every day I carry my reminder. I’ve given it away many times over the years to men and women I have encountered who needed to hear the Good News and know that they were not alone, but each time I replace it so that it is there for me or the next soul the Lord puts in my path.
About this ministry
So, what’s the goal? Why are you doing this?
I’m not perfect. I’ve done many things I’m not proud of. But I’m not a bad person either. I’ve done some good things in my life. At some point in my life, I learned that all true joy and happiness come from our creator who is GOD and that it doesn’t matter how many good things I do in my life, I can’t earn my way into heaven. Eternal life with my Lord is a gift freely given that I am not worthy of nor can I earn. How I got there is a story I will share with you through the posts on this blog.
The point is, looking back I realize the grace, the blessings, and the love that have come from knowing the Lord Jesus, from trying to follow Him more closely each day, are far better than all the riches, fame, or glory I could possibly attain in my short life here on earth, and I can’t help but feel a burning desire to share that story, HIS Gift, with anyone who is looking for hope.
So, the goal is to share the hope that I have, which is a hope and faith in Jesus my Lord, with as many as will receive it. I would love for every man, woman, and child to carry a nail with them daily to remind them of God’s love and for us all to grow in our knowledge and love for the Lord.
We are all worthy. He loves us all. He wants us all to know Him. He will forgive you for anything if you are willing to ask.
You can help too
Pray
Pray that someone will be reached by this ministry or by you today.
I pray each morning that the Lord will put someone in my path that needs to hear the gospel story and understand the love and hope of God. I pray that I will recognize these opportunities and that the Spirit will speak through me to them.
Pray that you will mature just a little bit in faith and wisdom today so that you might be just a little more prepared for tomorrow.
Study
Spend time reading your Bible and studying God’s word. There will be opportunities to follow along with some of the studies I am involved with through the posts on this site, but I encourage you to get involved with a group of your friends or fellow members of a Bible teaching and following Church in your community. If you need help finding one, please feel free to reach out to me and I will try to help you find a good discipling faith community.
Get Involved / Partner With Me
Point your friends and family to this site. Encourage them to become involved in helping spread the message of Love, grace, forgiveness, peace, and joy of our savior Jesus Christ.
A gifted writer I am not. If you would like to submit devotionals or writings to include and share on our website, please email them to me at the address below. If appropriate I will certainly include them here and cite their source, as well as joyfully point them to any other resources you may have and wish to share.
